State head Abiy Ahmed has introduced power creation at the dubious, multi-billion-euro Grand Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile, a feeder of the Nile River.

Downstream neighbors Egypt and Sudan view the undertaking as a danger to their portion of the Nile waters.

The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is set to be the biggest hydro-electric plan in Africa yet has been at the focal point of a local argument about water privileges since work initially started in 2011.
